What's in it for me?


If you are a student of English as a foreign language, you need to make sure that you really do know how to pronounce all the sounds of English accurately. This can easily be done if a teacher using S4 phonetics gets you to read a text containing all the sounds, then transcribes your speech into phonetic text and compares the result to the standard one. If you can’t find a teacher who can assist you in this way, feel free to contact me and I will try to arrange something.

This is an easy thing to do if you use a checklist from this website to find out what they are getting wrong. And reading the book "Teach English Pronunciation" will give you all the background knowledge you need to make sure they learn to say them right.

Don’t forget: phonics is for teaching English-speaking students to read, and phonetics is for teaching students how to pronounce.
